Old Timey Buttermilk Pie

This one’s fool proof. Let me know if you still manage to muss it. Sprinkle in some nutmeg to keep your enemies at bay.

1 pie crust (thawed/refridgerated)
1/2 cup salted butter, melted and cooled slightly
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
3 large eggs
1/4 cup flour
3/4 cup buttermilk
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp vanilla extract
sprinkle of kosher salt
generous sprinkle of nutmeg

  1. Preheat oven to 350 and mold pie crust into tin or pan, crimping/folding edges. Once oven is preheated, bake crust only for 10 minutes and set aside.

  2. Pour sugar then melted butter into a mixing bowl and blend

  3. Add eggs and blend some more, then add flour and mix well

  4. Add buttermilk, lemon juice, and vanilla and stir until blended in

  5. Sprinkle in 1/8 tsp at most of salt, and as much nutmeg as you prefer

  6. Pour pie filling into crust and bake for 45 minutes.

  7. Let cool about an hour and serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream and more nutmeg if desired.
